CENTRE OF RESEARCH EXCELLENCE FOR ADVANCED COOPERATIVE SYSTEMS

The Centre of Research Excellence for Advanced Cooperative Systems (ACROSS) is an interdepartmental research centre at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. The centre performs research in cooperative systems related to robotics, networked embedded systems and renewable energy systems. Its establishment and operation is funded by the European FP-7 Capacities "Research Potential" program [285939, FP7-REGPOT-2011-1].

The Centre of Research Excellence for Advanced Cooperative Systems (ACROSS) invites you to the research seminar:

"Recent Results in Visual Servoing"

held by François Chaumette, the Lagadic group, Inria Rennes-Bretagne Atlantique, France.

The seminar will take place on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, starting at 11:00 in TCR at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing.

More about the speaker and the seminar can be found in the detailed news content.

Abstract:
Visual servoing consists in using the data provided by a vision sensor in order to control the motions of a dynamic system. The talk will present recent results obtained in the field inside the Lagadic group at Inria in Rennes. Applications are about vision-based manipulation, visual navigation of mobile robots, and visual servoing from ultrasound images for medical robotics.

About the speaker:

François Chaumette was graduated from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique, Nantes, France, in 1987.  He received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of Rennes, France, in 1990. Since 1990, he has been with Inria in Rennes where he is now "Directeur de Recherches'' and head of the Lagadic group (http://www.irisa.fr/lagadic). His research interests include robotics and computer vision, especially visual servoing and active perception.

Dr. Chaumette is IEEE Fellow. He received the AFCET/CNRS Prize for the best French thesis in automatic control in 1991. He also received with Ezio Malis the 2002 King-Sun Fu Memorial Best IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation Paper Award. He has been Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Robotics from 2001 to 2005 and is now in the Editorial Board of the Int. Journal of Robotics Research.
