Abstract
Wheeled mobile robots no longer need to be introduced. Their path from labs to factory floors to people's homes end even onto the roads is well known. For many mobile robots, knowing their pose in the environment is necessary for performing their tasks. In this talk the speaker will discuss his contributions in the areas of advanced sonar and laser based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), interactive SLAM, laser scan matching and visual path following. The speaker will also disseminate ongoing research and development efforts of his company.
CV
Albert Diosi has done his master's degree with focus on robotics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. After a year spent designing robots and environmental sensors at a company, he continued his studies by doing an award winning Ph.D. study with focus on mobile robot navigation at the Intelligent Robotics Research Centre of Monash University in Melbourne. Australia was followed by performing post-doc research on vision based autonomous driving at the Lagadic group of IRISA/INRIA Rennes in France. A switch to industry followed when Albert started working on a robotic vacuum cleaner for a renowned appliance manufacturer in England. After returning to Slovakia Albert founded a company which provides robotics related services for the automotive industry and does R&D for customers.
