CENTRE OF RESEARCH EXCELLENCE FOR ADVANCED COOPERATIVE SYSTEMS

The Centre of Research Excellence for Advanced Cooperative Systems (ACROSS) is an interdepartmental research centre at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. The centre performs research in cooperative systems related to robotics, networked embedded systems and renewable energy systems. Its establishment and operation is funded by the European FP-7 Capacities "Research Potential" program [285939, FP7-REGPOT-2011-1].

Abstract:

A trend in the design of software defined radios is to use the canonical receiver architecture. It is attractive because it minimizes the analog circuitry. On the other hand, it employs wideband and high-dynamic analog-to-digital converters and requires highly efficient digital circuits. Its design is a rather difficult task. Nowadays, the circuitry employing high-speed FPGA devices can be successfully used in the receiver design. The colloquium describes the improvements in design of the decimation filters in digital down conversion, the reduction of the system complexity by using word length truncations, and the design of high-selective channel filters through analytical methods.

CV:

Goran Molnar received the Diploma Engineer and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from University of Zagreb, Croatia, in 2001 and 2010 respectively. In 2001, he was employed as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the Department of Electronic Systems and Information Processing of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb. Since 2010 he has been working as a Senior Teaching and Research Assistant at the same department. His current research interests include analog and digital filter design, software defined radios, digital system design, and FPGA implementation of digital systems.
