Abstract:

Introduction of GigE Vision and GenICam standards significantly simplified integration of machine vision cameras and image processing libraries making vision solutions for the industry more flexible. Existing image processing libraries provide numerous algorithms geared toward the specific tasks, however, actual image processing chain still must be defined by a vision expert on a case-by-case basis. Most commonly used processing libraries tools include edge and ridge extractors, line and ellipse detectors, and distance, angle, surface and color measurements that are chained together. To reduce need for a vision expert a necessary addition is the registration step that would remove variation in acquired images and enable non vision experts to quickly define robust processing chains. This colloquium will give a short overview of GigE Vision and GenICam standards and will describe a simple machine vision software pattern consisting of acquire-register-analyze steps. A developed system currently in operation at the Elektro-kontakt d.d. Zagreb manufacturing plant will be presented.
