CENTRE OF RESEARCH EXCELLENCE FOR ADVANCED COOPERATIVE SYSTEMS

The Centre of Research Excellence for Advanced Cooperative Systems (ACROSS) is an interdepartmental research centre at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. The centre performs research in cooperative systems related to robotics, networked embedded systems and renewable energy systems. Its establishment and operation is funded by the European FP-7 Capacities "Research Potential" program [285939, FP7-REGPOT-2011-1].

The Centre of Research Excellence for Advanced Cooperative Systems (ACROSS) and IEEE Croatia Section, Control Systems Chapter invite you to the research seminar

"How Much Information Is Needed for A Given Control Task?"

held by Prof. Yanlong Zhao from Key Laboratory of Systems and Control, Institute of Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The seminar will take place on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014 starting at 11:00 in TCR at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing.

More about the speaker and the seminar can be found in the detailed news content.

Abstract:

This talk is concerned with the following issues: how much information is required to reach a desired accuracy of the parameter estimate, how much information is required to reach a desired accuracy of an adaptive tracking control or a consensus control. This is actually the main line of the recent focus of our research group. The problem involves in not only the relationship of the given task and the information quantity contained in the obtained data, but also the influence of various uncertainties such as dynamic uncertainties, external disturbances, communication noises, and communication limitations. To show this scenario, the talk will use three typical systems as examples, including first-order linear time-invariant systems, Hammerstein systems and multi-agent systems.

Biobibliography of Prof. Yanlong Zhao:

Yanlong Zhao received the B.S. degree in mathematics from Shandong University, Jinan, in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree in systems theory from the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science (AMSS), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing, China, in 2007. Since 2007, he has been with AMSS, CAS, where he is currently an associate professor. His current research interests include identification and control of quantized systems. He is now Vice-Chair of IEEE CSS Beijing Chapter, Vice-General Secretary of Chinese Association of Automation, steering committee member of Asian Control Association, member of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) Technical Committee on Modeling, Identification and Signal Processing, and serves as an Associate Editor of Asian Journal of Control, and Journal of Systems and Science and Complexity.
