The Centre of Research Excellence for Advanced Cooperative Systems (ACROSS) invites you to the research seminar
"Theory and Practice of Recommender Systems"
given by dr.sc. Milan Bjelica from School of Electrical Engineering (ETF), University of Belgrade, Serbia.
The seminar will take place on Wednesday, November 12th, starting at 12:00 in TCR at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing.
More about the speaker and the seminar can be found in the detailed news content.
Abstract:
Recommender systems are software agents that assist their users in finding the items of interest in those environments where number of available items overcomes the user’s capability to browse them in time-efficient manner. Examples of these systems are easily found among the internet search engines (e.g Google), location-based services (e.g. dining guides), personal assistants (e.g. shopping guides), TV program guides etc. This lecture will give the overview of recommender systems fundamentals and present the research work in this area that is conducted at School of Electrical Engineering, Belgrade.
CV:
Milan Bjelica received B. Sc. (dipl. ing.) degree in 2000, M. Sc. degree in 2003, and Ph. D. degree in 2009, all from School of Electrical Engineering (ETF), University of Belgrade, Serbia. He is currently with the ETF Communications Department, working as assistant professor. His research interests include recommender systems, computer networks, communication protocols for energy-efficient networking, simulation and modeling.
